6 x 1/2 hr
This is what Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgeon Tristan de Chalain's calendar looks like on an average Monday. On a Tuesday he's likely to be in consultation with people who've made the decision to go under the knife at hi private practice in Remuera. Wednesday is more cranio-facial work in the public sector and teaching sessions with new doctors. Thursday is usually face-lifts. Friday is Liposuction.

Episode Overview
Overview
Tristan is just one of the stars of "Skin Doctors" docu-drama, following the work of "Appearance Medicine" specialists
Its not just America and Europe where people are having extreme makeovers; plenty of New Zealanders are altering their appearance in subtle (and not so subtle) ways. A voluntary nip'n'tuck isn't cheap, but it's increasingly available – and increasingly acceptable.
As well as plastic surgeons and breast surgeons, the series follows in the non-surgical area, which has seen big growth in recent years. Botox specialists in particular are headlining women's magazines – and a fair few men's mags as well. One Auckland clinic estimates almost half its clients are now men, though they tend to prefer "lunchtime" treatments (like Botox) over surgical procedures.
Throughout the series we are there for the enlargement of breasts, the reduction of thighs, and stretching of faces. We meet the patients who may have been planning plastic surgery from the moment their first wrinkle began – and those who more suddenly, accidentally require it. From consultation to recovery, we follow the stories of our "appearance medicine" specialists and those who submit to their knives and needles.
