Beat Squad is an exciting new factual series on TV One that features behind-the scenes access to New Zealand community police officers as they protect neighbourhood's from crime.
Community based crime continues to be a problem throughout New Zealand. Whether it is tagging, car conversions or burglary – it is a blight for small communities. Sometimes the crime is random – often it is the result of organized criminals or juvenile delinquent gangs. The outcome is the same; a sense of unease and fear among the community. The evidence of this criminal behaviour is easy to see – fences and shop fronts defaced with graffiti, bus shelters vandalized, cars broken into.
Beat Squad reveals that, for the dedicated bunch of officers battling to protect our communities, life is often rewarding, can be confrontational, sometimes amusing, but always exciting.
